He got his start designing shoes for Delman and Christian Dior, using his free time to create jewelry. By the late 60s, he opened his own design house. Lane designed jewelry all across the price spectrum from unique designs for Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and the Duchess of Windsor to Bergdorf Goodman to QVC.  In the 1980s he created many jewelry collections for Avon.Known for its high quality and incredible style, KJL jewelry ranges from classic pearls and gold metal door knocker earrings to ethnic tribal pieces and even over-the-top rococo and baroque designs Lane designed for many companies over the past 50 years. Lane was good about using different marks to designate age and distributor which helps to date his jewelry and who made it.  Information on his marks is on our KJL blog post.Kenneth Jay Lane passed away in 2017 but his namesake company is still going strong.
