This set of eight large soup or pasta plates was made by Don Pottery circa 1820. The design is part of Don Potery’s series of dishes, ” Italian Views”. The center is decorated with a neoclassical scene of couples relaxing near a ruin while a pair of cupids fly above. The wide border is filled with flowers and leaves, which overflow into the dish’s well. The dishes are made of pearlware, most of which was produced in England from 1790 to 1830. Dimensions: 9.75″ diameter x 1.25 deep Condition: Good. The dishes have small original firing faults and very little wear to the enamel (see images).
