Similarly to the Japanese Koto, with its movable bridges, the Concert Monochord adds melodic accents to the unison tuned strings, while the fifth strings bring in a tambura-like effect. The included mallets let you play the Concert Monochord like a Santoor, adding rhythmic texture to the mix. The interplay between the steady tones of the monochord and the lively plucking of the strings creates a beautiful, meditative compositions. This single-sided concert monochord features 20 overtone strings, 5 bass strings, and 5 fifth strings. It’s perfect for meditation, singing accompaniment, or playing as a solo instrument. You can pluck the strings above the bridges individually or strum them. Like a Koto, pressing the strings on the untuned side after plucking raises the pitch and can be used to create a vibrato effect. The tuning template offers a diatonic scale with 8 movable tabs, allowing you to change tunings easily, even during a performance, giving you a wide range of musical possibilities.
