Background of the Old Chelsea Pattern The pattern was produced by the Ceramic Art Company, a manufacturer known for its decorative dinnerware. The Ceramic Art Company was established in 1889 in Trenton, New Jersey, by Jonathan Coxon and Walter Scott Lenox. In 1896, Coxon retired, and Lenox continued the business, adding his name beneath the CAC mark. In 1906, the company was renamed Lenox Incorporated.
