Born in International Falls, he studied art at Parsons School of Design. Frustrated with his career, he stood in front of a millinery supply house when the proprietor asked if he was interested in the hat business. A millinery career was born.  He designed and worked with Chanda, John Fredericks, and Lilly Dache through the years.  Based in Philadelphia, Anderson was a Halston licensee.  WHAT IS SYNTHETIC HORSEHAIR About Synthetic HorsehairMilliners used the hair from the manes and tails of horses from the 19th Century to the 1910s.  Eventually, as synthetic horsehair became available it fell out of favor.  Most 20th-century hats, like this one, are made of synthetic horsehair, usually crinoline.
