Born from the creative minds of Madhava Carrara and Margherita Cioffi, both artisans and musicians, this endeavour reflects their deep passion for sound exploration and craftsmanship. Madhava Carrara, deeply influenced by Indian culture, brings a wealth of musical and artisanal expertise to the project. With years of experience in creating stringed, wind, and percussion instruments using a diverse range of materials, including recycled items, his artistic journey has been one of continual innovation and discovery. Meanwhile, Margherita Cioffi, a gifted singer and decorator, has lent her creative prowess to the exploration that underpins the Grotta Sonora project. The project began in a cave of Etruscan origin near the ancient village of Calcata in the Treja Valley. Within this mystical space, they meticulously crafted their first instruments.. As fate would have it, the cave provided an ideal acoustical environment for playing these newly-fashioned instruments, ultimately serving as the catalyst for the Grotta Sonora project.
